An odd effect that oestrogen has on me is that it makes my hair curly. My hair went straight during the pregnancy with Kieran, and stayed that way until I started ovulating again. The hormones can even affect our tastes in food. As women, our hormones help us to empathise more, thus helping us as mothers. I really can't say I'm too fond of oestrogen, considering I do get nauseated by it, but overall I'm starting to appreciate the big picture more.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16376858784972563684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8001085322840003357.post-66514483728814007552011-05-09T13:55:34.089-04:002011-05-09T13:55:34.089-04:00Sorry, I wasn't being clear either. But I guess I still don't understand how hormones really work and why we need them - why are they are a gift from God?Jessicahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04444704944288002925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8001085322840003357.post-76920359210075111642011-05-09T11:50:32.191-04:002011-05-09T11:50:32.191-04:00Something I didn't include in the piece, but w...Something I didn't include in the piece, but which was in my mind, is that we don't acknowledge and value the cyclic nature of our hormones. Many women suppress them through the pill, or try to ignore them or deny their influence upon us. At least I've fallen into both of those categories at different times.

This was written in a quick space of time when both kids were napping, so I apologise for not being clearer.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16376858784972563684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8001085322840003357.post-59552738591169836072011-05-09T10:23:46.446-04:002011-05-09T10:23:46.446-04:00Explain? While I don't believe in using hormones as an "excuse" for behaviour, I'm learning the importance of recognising the effect my hormones do have on me, and that it isn't all bad.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16376858784972563684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8001085322840003357.post-41972849981964924002011-05-09T10:10:35.194-04:002011-05-09T10:10:35.194-04:00I'd love for you to explain this more, because...I'd love for you to explain this more, because I don't understand. :)Jessicahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04444704944288002925noreply@blogger.com
